Excerpt from the specific leaflet: FERRARI 456 GT PRESENTATION BRUXELLES (BELGIUM) PARC DU CINQUANTENAIRE SEPTEMBER 26th, 1992 456 GT, the FERRARI factory's latest creation, is a signature that includes the complete history and technology of the most famous automobile factory in the world. This high-prestige 2+2 car in its special livery is now presented here at Parc du Cinquantenaire. FERRARI cars are usually considered to be exclusively sports car and therefore two-seaters, but this time the factory of Maranello has adopted a new solution which on the one hand strictly keeps to the two-door version, but also offers a much more roomy interior with a special design enabling the addition of two further seats. Certainly this is not the first time a 2+2 has been created. Just consider that even as far back as 1948, in the same year that one of the most famous FERRARI sports cars was introduced, to so-called. «Barchetta», a real jewel, FERRARI also came out with a four-seater solution with Touring styling. The first sample of this version was exhibited at the Show in Turin (Italy) and it can now be admired at the Enzo Ferrari Museum, Maranello. Among the other important stylists designing four-seater versions we can mention Ghia and Vignale who normally cooperate with the factory. The most important results in this sector, however, derive from the collaboration with Pininfarina, and its is in fact told as an anecdote that it was decided to call the car 2+2 in order to highlight that the two front seats were decidedly and obviously the most important ones, while the other two, being add-ed, might be less comfortable. This designation appeared for the first time during the sixties with the 250 type, immediately followed by the models with engine innovations and therefore of higher displacement, i.e. the 330 model of '64, the 365 of '67, the 365 GT/4 of '72 (with over 4 head camshafts) up to the 400 automatic version of '66, which was the first FERRARI car with automatic gears as an alternative to normal gears. Finally, between 1982 and 1985 the 400i (injection) and the 412 versions (the very latest version) were created. The brand-new 456 GT of today has therefore been created on the basis of the experience acquired with all the foregoing models and now represents the top of the production of the most refined and tested Italian automobile technology. In this 2+2 version, much attention has been paid to the perfecting of the interior compartment to ensure the highest passenger comfort and at the same time keeping, or actually increasing, the model's sporting performance, which has always been the most sophisticated and qualifying feature of the cars produced by the FERRARI Factory. At the same time much attention has been paid to maintaining the pure line of the car - another parameter never neglected by FERRARI. The 456 GT is therefore certainly innovative, because everything has been designed and developed with great care without ever losing sight of the goal of the initial project, from the tubular chassis to the engine with five-speed gearbox, to the original and pacemaking streamlining. Pininfarina was given the task of developing a very modern body styling both complying with traditional design and at the same time giving an immediate sense of novelty. And the result is really fantastic! The opportunity of presenting the new FERRARI car in Belgium is also due to a special historical circumstance, i.e. the 40 year anniversary of the famous Italian high-prestige brand in this country, and more particularly here in Brussells. This event could not be passed over by OMAS, Bologna, well-known for its splendid production of writing instruments and which since its foundation in 1925 has always linked its collections of highest prestige to events of special importance. We can here mention the series of fountain pens, ballpoint and roller pens dedicated to the 9th Centenary of Bologna University, the most ancient in the Western World, as well as the «Amerigo Vespucci» collection dedicated to the world famous School Ship of the Italian Navy. Recently the EEC Commission authorized OMAS (the sole company to obtain this official authorization) to enhance a splendid blue fountain pen with the emblem of the United Europe. The EEC Protocol then presented these pens to the twelve Heads of State and of Government signing the Treaty of Maastricht. Now another important peak of importance has been reached. The edition of this roller pen is unique and exclusive in commemorating the presentation of the 456 GT. Our Company, although operating in a different business sector, but very close to the philosophy that FERRARI holds to in its choices for its projects, intends to reserve this series of authentic writing instruments for the most qualified Press and for the most important guests invited to the meeting. The roller pens are the same yellow as the Belgian motor racing colours, and they are customized with the commemorative inscription of '456 GT» to pay homage to our host country. With time, these pens will therefore become important collectors' items, both for the event they celebrate and for the association of two Italian brands that happen to have their origin in the same region. The small number of samples produced will also contribute to making this production that OMAS dedicates to FERRARI precious. Nota Bene:For further details please do not hesitate to contact us.
