Description: P669 germination medium: this is an all-purpose germination medium that works well for a broad range of epiphytic orchids. This is the same as our P668 germination medium but with a small amount of banana powder added to prevent "brown-out" of protocorms and seedlings that are kept on germination medium for too long. This is NOT for paphiopedilums or phragmipediums; use P668 for those. For terrestrial genera including cypripedium, use T839, T849, or M551. This is the old standby based on Murashige and Skoog salt base with 20 grams of sugar and all the other goodies (inositol, peptone, B vitamins- the whole kitchen sink is in there). Inexpensive and reliable. Contains gelling agent (agar) and banana powder. Add water to 1 liter final volume, mix thoroughly, pour, and autoclave. Please note: Orchid seed germination is a technical matter. If you are not familiar with the process, I recommend looking up some videos on YouTube, and doing some web searches for more information before buying media.
