From George Paprikov's collection, judging from black velveteen display mount and identification title. On non-battlefield related service red ribbon. Ribbon fastened [double-sided tape of some sort?] to display mount. The crown above the award planchet unknown in the literature. Perhaps a personal unofficial augmentation. Other Bulgarian Orders, like some German state awards, included a suspension crown to indicate a higher grade within a decoration. From George Paprikov's collection, formed 1958-1972. Imagine a silver Boris Order of Merit 2nd class attached to a knight class crown. These are best images available. CONDITION: Insignia, 60 mm by 35 mm, in used condition with minor tarnish & minor wear to metal. Ribbon shows age. Made of silver metal & hard enamel.
