Description: Jubilee medal for the golden wedding anniversary in 1892 Carl Alexander was the Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach Approx 1 1/8" across This commemorative medal was given out on October 8, 1892 by Grand Duke Carl Alexander. The occasion was the golden wedding anniversary with his wife Sofie. The medal was issued in 4 levels: gold, silver gold-plated, silver and bronze. People present at the celebration in Weimar received this medal. The gold medals were only given to royalty (25 pieces). The other levels were awarded to the other guests, the court, officials, commanding officers and non-commissioned officers and servants according to rank. The medals were made by Ostermann at the Berlin Mint. (formerly Loos) This example is the bronze version that has been gold plated Missing the rolibbon and ribbon loop, plating is partiality worn and metal underneath is partially corroded.
