About the ArtistAlice Mostoff (1932 - ) was born in Brooklyn New York where she studied speech and drama, with graduate work at Brooklyn College and the Brooklyn Museum. Her career as an artist began part-time but soon became her full time passion in the 1970s. In 1981 she opened a studio at the Torpedo Art Factory in Arlington, Virginia. She quickly became associated with the Art Factory and maintained a studio there for 25+ years. During this time period the influences of the Washington Color School, a combination of color field abstraction and hard-line abstraction, deeply influenced her work. This work, from her "Aerial" series, is a monotype print from that time period.
