About the ArtistElla Gant (1918-2011) was born in Millville New Jersey, living there all her life. Initially she worked as an RN, until discovering her creative talent as an artist in the 1940s. Art became a consuming passion for the rest of her life. She returned to study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, followed by a long and productive career. Gant was a versatile artist with a wide range of works and media, including painting, printmaking and later marble sculpture. She exhibited extensively, holding several one-woman shows.
