Description: This mess kit was found in Des Moines Iowa. It was donated to a thrift store and the employees either did not know what it was, or did not care. It was tightly sealed shut when I purchased it. I was expecting to find the knife and spoon inside, but was even more thrilled when I discovered its contents. Inside are documents, post cards, and trinkets dating from both WWI and WWII from what I can tell. The name Carl Franklin is engraved on the bottom of the kit.
