This Retipping service preserves the original sound of the elliptical Ortofon SPU, but improves tracking, detail resolution and upper high frequency response as well as reduces groove pressure which means reduced record wear. If your cantilever is intact and your original diamond simply fell out, I can replace just the diamond for the same price. It’s definitely NOT easier to replace just the diamond alone, but preserving the unique SPU cantilever whenever possible should be a priority. Upon arrival, cartridges are inspected, lightly cleaned, retipped, demagnetized, play tested and demagnetized again before shipping back to the owner.
