Description: Oxford DiecastMetal Replica Model Vehicle B45 - AEC 34-Seat Open-top Bus Sent to Coventry Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE Following the take-over of Corgi by Mattel, and its move of headquarters to Leicester, a group of ex-Corgi employees, led by Lyndon Davies (nicknamed “Taff”), formed a new company, Oxford Diecast, and began manufacturing in 1993 from the old Corgi factory in Swansea, where they also manufactured a number of models on behalf of Corgi. In 1998 production was moved to a new plant at Neath in Swansea which solely focused on the production of Oxford Diecast products. The main focus in this period was the Oxford Originals range, and a major market was through reader offers in newspapers and magazines. These models were not to scale and designed to ‘fit the box’. They were often limited edition runs supplied with a certificate showing the production run numbers. This model was commissioned by Coventry Diecast Collectors Club. It depicts an AEC 34-seat open-top bus from around 1910, which is finished in a rich deep burgundy colour, the livery of Coventry Corporation Transport Dept. The advertising board carries the slogan "Sent to Coventry". This was a limited edition and is one of only 1,500 produced. It comes complete with a numbered certificate. Excellent pre-owned condition. Near mint condition, in original box and complete with certificate. Box is very good, with no serious rips or splits. Model itself is near mint.
