Description: Paragon Double Warrant Cup & Saucer Design #7653 English Fine Bone ChinaVintage - Antique My research on the backstamp dates this cool cup and saucer to about 1939-1949. The design is unusual for this genre of teacup! It's a more modern (for its time) midcentury look than so many of the more traditional English florals. Silver painted leaf (oak, maple or possibly ivy) laid across what looks like a wheat stalk, painted in a jaunty, abstract style. Orange berries on top of the stalks, all set upon a beautiful midcentury baby blue! A pale blue that leans toward aqua. To my eye this is VERY similar to certain very famous jeweler's trademark color - just for description purposes to give you an idea. Condition:Please note this is "GOOD" vintage condition - not mint condition. Please view all photos carefully! This set DOES show signs of age and wear: the pale blue color has faded toward the edges of both the cup and the saucer where one would naturally rub with a washcloth to clean it. The saucer shows additional wear at the indentation where the cup sits including some friction wear to the handpainted silver portion. No cracks, chips or crazing. The imperfections point to the fact that this sweet cup and saucer must have held its share of tea in its lifetime! From a non-smoking home.
