As women entered the workplace and moved toward emancipation in the early 1900s, their sleeves decreased in size and their clothing became less hampering. According to the author of History of 20th Century Fashion, it was the tailored jacket which gave rise to the delicate lingerie blouses like our Past Patterns item 0404, the Gibson Tuck Blouse, our item 0405, the Tucked Yoke Waist and our item 0406, the Side-Closed Waist. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This pattern is Multi-sized 10-18 Size 10 Bust 33” Waist 25 ½” Back Length 15 ¾” Size 12 Bust 34 ¾” Waist 27” Back Length 16” Size 14 Bust 36 ¼” Waist 28 ½” Back Length 16 1/8” Size 16 Bust 37 ¾” Waist 30 ¼” Back Length 16 3/8” Size 18 Bust 39 ¼” Waist 31 ¾” Back Length 16 5/8” ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fabric Requirements (all measurements using 45” wide fabric) Fabric Sizes 10-12 2 ½ Yds Sizes 14-20 2 5/8 Yds Lining Sizes 10-12 2 Yds Sizes 14-20 2 ¼ Yds Suggested Fabrics For a period-correct Edwardian Dress Jacket, use a black nubby weave of medium weight wool. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 0210 Thanks for looking!
