Description: One Yard minus an irregular, slim 8 x 10 inch cut of "From the Mills, April 29, 1897, The American Textile Museum," by P&B Textiles. A reproduction print from the permanent textiles scrapbook of The American Textile Museum. A floral on a gray floral-mottled black background. The flowers are outlined in pale yellow and gray. They are black and pink and light red. The yard has been cut at one corner, at the selvage (see photo). Very Rare. Has been stored in a plastic tote in a smoke-free, animal-free household. "This swatch is an example of dress fabric that was popular from 1890 to 1910 in America. Barbara Brackman calls these bright colors on a black ground "neons." The size of the motifs were from small to large, like this one, but the neon colors of sky blue, red, yellow, lime green, hot pink, were the defining factor. Merrimack and other mills produced these very popular neons...P&B's line called "From the Mills," is their second, produced in cooperation with The American Textile History Museum, in Lowell, MA. The first line, in 1999, used all Cocheco fabrics for inspiration. This line is using Cocheco, Arnold, Merrimack and Allen Print Works, all of which are from the collections at the museum."
