In 1997, the PEZ Star Wars Series began and it has been modified, added to, and improved constantly included new addition Kylo Ren in 2016 along with updated Storm Trooper. The original series had nine characters: Luke Skywalker/Princess Leia/C3P0 - Luke was born during the chaos as the galaxy transitioned from Republic to the tyrannical Empire. He and his twin sister, Leia, were secretly spirited away from his father and the Emperor. Luke was taken to live with Owen and Beru on Tatooine while his sister was taken to Alderaan to be raised by Viceroy Bail Organa. Luke's life changed when his uncle purchased a pair of used droids from Jawa dealers. The droids, R2D2 and C3PO, were Rebel property fleeing from the Empire. The Rebel droids led Luke on an adventure, uniting him with Obi-Wan Kenobi, a desert hermit and war hero whom Luke knew as Old Ben. Imperial forces in pursuit of the droids murdered Owen and Beru Lars and destroyed Luke's home. With nothing left on Tatooine, Luke decided to follow Kenobi who taught Luke in the ways of the Jedi Knights and the Force, ways for which Luke showed an affinity. Kenobi gave Luke Anakin's lightsaber. Yoda - the ancient and revered Jedi Master, who lived his final years hiding on the swamp planet of Dagobah. Nine hundred years old, Yoda had trained Jedi for eight centuries, and was very powerful in the Force. Among his last pupils were the most important (and reckless) Jedi in recent history, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. Chewbacca - An immense, fur covered warrior of great strength and loyalty, Chewbacca the Wookiee was a well-known figure in both the underworld and in the Rebel Alliance. Born on Kashyyyk over two centuries before the Battle of Yavin, Chewbacca was a wise, sophisticated being with exceptional skills in starship piloting and repair. In 2004 a new design of Chewbacca came out on 5.9 China stems (both light brown and dark brown stems). Storm Trooper - The soldiers of the Empire struck with frightening anonymity, their faces completely obscured by unmistakable white armor. While the 18-piece armored shell offers limited protection from blaster fire, it also serves as a weapon of terror. The bone-white armor fits over a black temperature-control body glove. Built-in helmet comlinks supplemented by belt-mounted hand-held units ensure that stormtroopers are always in touch with their superiors. Standardized utility belts offer ammunition for blaster sidearms, and helpful tools such as grappling hooks and cable. Stormtrooper armor also serves as a limited space suit for protection against hard vacuum. Boba Fett - A faceless enforcer, Boba Fett's distinctive armor strikes fear in the hearts of fugitives. He is a legendary bounty hunter, accepting warrants from both the Empire and the criminal underworld. He is all business, laconic, and deadly. Boba was initially issued on a 4.9 Hungary stem and later switched to a 5.9 China stem. In 2014, Boba Fett was re-issued on a 7.5 China stem, and although similar, there are color differences. Darth Vader - Dark Lord of the Sith, who was the scourge of the Jedi, a master of the dark side of the Force, and one of the Emperor's most trusted servants. He wasn't always a fearsome enforcer, however. He began life as Anakin Skywalker, a young slave from Tatooine skilled in piloting and strong in the Force. Anakin's very origins are mysterious. His mother, Shmi, revealed that there was no biological father. Some among the Jedi believed this to be part of an ancient prophecy of a Chosen One, willed into life by the midi-chlorians, who would bring balance to an increasingly darkening Force. There was another possibility, though. The child could have been the creation of sinister Sith manipulations, as the Dark Lords Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious conspired to bring about the perfect apprentice by coaxing life from lifelessness. Ewok - The Ewoks are sentient furred bipeds native to the moon of Endor. They are curious individuals that stand about one meter tall. Although extremely skilled in forest survival and the construction of primitive technology like gliders and catapults, the Ewoks have yet to progress past stone-level technology. They are quick learners, however, when exposed to advanced technology with simple mechanical processes and concepts. In 2002, the series was expanded by three: R2D2 as described above. Jango Fett - The name and reputation are just two of the many things Boba inherited from his father, Jango. In the final years of the Republic, Jango Fett was regarded as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. Clone Trooper - History has recorded ethics becoming a casualty of scientific progress on a disturbing number of occasions. Breakthroughs become twisted for violent applications, leading to terribly efficient warfare. Cloning is just one such example. While its beneficial application to the field of medicine is unquestionable, no one will soon forget the scourge of the Clone Wars. The Clone Troopers introduced in that long conflict were crafted by the scientific geniuses of Kamino, aliens renowned for their genetic knowledge. The Kaminoan hatcheries used genetic material harvested from the host template, a bounty hunter named Jango Fett. This material was grown into thousands of soldiers inside glass-walled incubation wombs. The Kaminoans employed growth acceleration techniques to effectively double the rate of clone development. Without such measures, it would take a full life-time to grow a mature clone. Their adult clones were ready for combat in less than a decade. Throughout a clone's growth, constant physical and mental training honed the warrior's skills. Unlike the mindless battle droid armies of the commerce guilds, clones could think creatively and operate much more independently. A limited edition of crystal Darth Vader, Yoda, and C3P0 were issued in 2003. In 2005, three more characters were added along with an updated Chewbacca: Emperor Palpatine (Regular and GITD) - Palpatine was the supreme ruler of the most powerful tyrannical regime the galaxy had ever witnessed, yet his roots seem extremely humble, traced back to the peaceful world of Naboo. Before his rise to power, Palpatine was an unassuming yet ambitious Senator in the Galactic Republic. Palpatine saw the Republic crumbling about him, torn apart by partisan bickering and corruption. All too common were those unscrupulous Senators taking advantage of the system, growing fat and wealthy on a bureaucracy too slow to catch them. General Grievous - A twisted melding of flesh and metal, General Grievous' body is a deadly weapon forged by the cutting edge developers of the Confederacy. Grievous' living matter was encased within his precision-engineered artificial body; inside the hardened carapace beat the heart of a remorseless killer. A pressurized gut-sack held his vital organs, while his skull-like mask contained his living eyes and brain. The Death Star - The Death Star was the code name of an unspeakably powerful and horrific weapon developed by the Empire. The immense space station carried a weapon capable of destroying entire planets. The Death Star was to be an instrument of terror, meant to cow treasonous worlds with the threat of annihilation. The Death Star was a battle station the size of a small moon. It had a formidable array of turbolasers and tractor beam projectors, giving it the firepower of greater than half the Imperial starfleet. Within its cavernous interior were legions of Imperial troops and fightercraft, as well as all manner of detention blocks and interrogation cells. The Death Star was spherical, and dark gray in color. Located on the Death Star's northern hemisphere was a concave disk housing the station's main laser weapon. In 2009, three more characters were added: Anakin Skywalker - As described above Obi Wan Kenobi - As described above Ahsoka Tano -Ahsoka Tano, a Togruta female, was the Padawan learner to Anakin Skywalker and a hero of the Clone Wars. Alongside Anakin, she grew from headstrong student into a mature leader. But her destiny laid along a different path than the Jedi. Darth Maul was added in 2012 - A deadly, agile Sith Lord trained by the evil Darth Sidious, Darth Maul was a formidable warrior and scheming mastermind. He wielded an intimidating double-bladed lightsaber and fought with a menacing ferocity. Kylo Ren was added in 2016 -He idolized his grandfather, the fallen Sith Lord Darth Vader, and hoped to finish what Vader started: the elimination of the Jedi. Kylo Ren's parents, Leia Organa and Han Solo, led the Rebel Alliance to victory in the Battle of Endor. In 2017, 3 more characters were introduced: Rey, Han Solo "A", and the droid BB-8. In 2018, following the Han Solo movie, 4 more Star Wars characters were issued: Chewbacca "C", Han Solo "B", Droid, and Lando Calrissian.
