Pre-conditioned wood on one side, and a glass like finish on the other. The pallet is shatterproof and will not break like glass. A razor scraper works on both finishes. The pallet is not necessary as you can use the wood interior of the box. It has a wonderful finished hard oil wax that likes paint!
