Description: First Lady FLOTUS hand made, hand painted and hand sewn period dress folk art political folk art doll, from artist in north Georgia and part of a collection I bought at Lakewood Antique Market in Atlanta about 20 years ago.She measures 14" high, has a painted face, and cloth body. She even has thumbs! Garments are very well done, including the underwear. Possibly a DAR project. The doll collection (there were about 35) ended with Lady Bird Johnson, so either the doll maker got tired or that was the last date of creation. A few spots from storage, but definitely just charming the way she is. I looked at the National Gallery for First Lady portraits but couldn't pinpoint who she is. Tag on dress is too faded to make out. After looking at the White House first lady collection, perhaps a close match is Letitia Christian Tyler. I assume the dollmaker had to have some sort of image inspiration.Very well made, great details and assuredly one of a kind! Her petticoat even has a wire running through the bottom.See for yourself!
