Description: Description Rafael Kubelik Mahler: Symphonies 11 CD Box Set TOWER RECORDS JAPAN Product introduction AUDITE's masterpieces, all of Kubelik's Mahler live performances are included! The CD version is a German AUDITE press, packaged for the first time as a Japan-only project! Released in limited quantities at a special price. Tower Records exclusive sale A box set that covers Kubelik's Mahler live performances released by the German AUDITE label. The stereo live recordings from 1967-82, including the complete session recordings for DG (1967-71) and performances from the same period, are carefully mastered by AUDITE from the official sound sources owned by Bavarian Radio, and are now available in a box set for the first time! Each performance retains Kubelik's elegant beauty while also featuring the uplifting feeling that only a live performance can provide, and without exception, they are all masterpieces that have astonished the world. The 9th Symphony is a recording of a rare performance in Japan. It is well-known among listeners that Kubelik's live performances are much more open and amplifying than the session recordings left on DG and many other labels, and that the unique rhythm of a live performance gives a very different impression. This was especially evident in the bootleg of the Fifth Symphony included here. At the time, it was probably a CD for Japan that contained almost the same recording as the German air check, but everyone was surprised by the performance, which was different from the image of the well-organized and noble Kubelik from the session. At the time, not many people went to see concerts in Munich in person, so the lively performance, full of excitement, regardless of the sound quality, became a big topic of conversation. A few years later, German label AUDITE released this No. 5 as an official recording of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (June 12, 1981, recording of the second day of the 12th regular concert of the 1980/81 season (the first half of the day featured Sibelius' symphonic poem "The Swan of Tuonela" and Fassbender's solo performance of Mahler's "Song of the Dead")), and subsequently released the single recording of "Das Lied von der Erde." It seems that Kubelik wanted to perform Mahler's cycles at the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra's regular concerts, and the recordings included in this album are all recordings from one of the two regular concert days, with the exception of No. 8 (a special concert at the Deutsches Museum) and No. 9 (recording from a performance in Japan). Unfortunately, although No. 4 was originally scheduled, it seems that no recording was left due to his sudden cancellation (according to information from related parties. Also, AUDITE has found that a mono live recording with the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra exists, but it has not yet been released), and the Adagio of No. 10, which was included in the session recording with DG, is also missing, but it is highly valuable in that it includes "Das Lied von der Erde" (the second day of the 6th Regular Concert of the 1969/70 season. The first half is Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos (No. 10) performed by the Kazadozs), which was not included in the session recording. The other recordings, from the 1967 live No. 3 to the 1982 recording of "Resurrection," all remain in good sound quality despite being broadcast recordings from the time. Every track shows a different side of Kubelik from the sessions, and although it is not a complete collection, it will continue to be highly regarded as a comprehensive Mahler recording. (Note that all of Kubelik's Mahler recordings released by AUDITE are included in this box, but for reference, other labels have released "Lamentations" (June 8, 1979) from the 12th regular concert at the end of the 1978/79 season.) This monumental compilation of Mahler live performances, which has never been released as a set or reissued before, has been released as a set for the first time as a Tower Records exclusive item. In addition, based on the label's decision that the sound source was originally released as the final sound that the AUDITE label digitized and mastered from the official analog master of the Bavarian Radio, the CDs pressed in Germany were airlifted and each disc was stored and packaged in Japan. In order to respect the sound of the label, a new preface and Obi in Japanese will be added, and the release will be limited in number.
