Description: I could not find anything similar to this online. It is so neat and unusual. I did read that hundreds of years ago that men would give women a spoon with jewels on it as sort of a promise ring or engagement ring.? It especially seems old because of how loose the stones are. The metal spoon itself is showing tarnish. The spoon itself is magnetic but the leaves and decoration are not magnetic. I don't have a gold tester or a sterling tester. The prongs bend very easily and the lowest blue gemstone fell out and so I did not glue it back in or bend the prongs in fear of breaking them so it does have one loose gemstone. I took photos of it. I really don't know exactly when this was made but I did do alot of research on the style of jewels and leaves that ornate it. The style of the jewelry and the spoon itself match the mid 1700's - early 1800's in every way that I could see. This is definetely a hard to find unique one of a kind item and could be very valuable. The gemstones don't look like paste. That bottom blue stone could very well be a sapphire?. There also could easily be a ruby and emerald etc. The spoon has two open rivets on the back and one hole is right where that blue stone is and the other one is right where the green stone is. This is 6 " long and the ladle part is 3 " wide. It weighs almost 2 oz.
