The Yaroslavl icon painting school is an artistic phenomenon of Russian art in the second half of the 16th - 17th centuries. It took shape and developed in the final period of the history of ancient Russian art, and therefore in many ways summed up the seven-century development of Russian icon painting. The school was formed on the basis of the local artistic tradition that existed in Yaroslavl in the 13th – 15th centuries. Provenance – Collection of Mary G. Roebling; 1997 receipt from Karen & David Dutch Antiques. Marked with I.C makers mark and assay mark which is hard to identify. Excellent condition, consistent with age and time.
