Description: RARE TEMPUS FUGIT GRANDFATHER CLOCK CHINOISERIE BLACK LACQUER PORTUGAL WORKS VTG Up for your consideration is this Very RARE and Incredibly Beautiful Antique Tempus Fugit Grandfather Clock. This is a Gaspar Vieira Chinoiserie Grandfather Clock, made in Porto Portugal and hand painted by the artist. This is an absolutely gorgeous, hand painted replica of an 18th century Chinoiserie with embossed Chinese motifs. Please take a good look at the pictures and message if you would like to see more pictures / videos. This Grandfather clock was made in the late 1960’s or early 70's and imported and marketed by "The Chicago Clock Company". This model was so labor intensive to produce and hand decorated that it took more than a year after ordering for the clock to arrive in the U.S. This clock features an intricately engraved brass dial and a three-weight movement playing Westminster chimes every quarter hour on a German movement. Because of the expense of manufacturing and the extended delivery time, this model was discontinued after being offered for only a few short years. Consequently, an extremely limited number of these clocks were made and to find one in such great working condition as this one is few and far between. This clock has all the original chains, weights, spires on top, works, and even the key for the dial door. He had a taste for Asian decor as well as some Hollywood Regency and French Provincial. This person was particularly well off due to his business and had eccentric taste in decor which resulted in a large collection of rare and unusual pieces. He was very meticulous about the care and condition of his pieces, with this clock being no exception. We were told at the Estate Sale that all of his furnishings were purchased from the late 1960's to the early 1970's from a high end importer of quality furnishings in Chicago.
