Description: This is a Rare find. This knife has a handle presumably made out of ox bone. Very decorative with small brass circles and dots. Some holes open others closed with Brass. The blade itself is a thick sturdy steel or metal. Both sides have a lot of engraving. I did not want to clean this so the verbiage is tougher to make out. One side in cursor is Bosnia with the data 1888 to the left multiple crosses emgraved. . Later 19th century. More words ?? Foca Pinorm....xxxxxx's and sunshine symbols. The other side has mostly xxxx's sunshine and either scroll work or words. Written in Arabic or something close to it. The bone handle on one side has a thin crack in it from top to bottom. No breakage or chipping. It's a captivating piece to me. The sheath is made of thin wood 2 pieces that are covered with a thin layer of brass. The brass has oxidation which gives it that beautiful greenish patina. It is also very decorative with designs. Knife is 15" end to end. Knife is 9.5" length handle is 5.5" In the research I have done 1888 was a period of strife in the region. No war but the issues would theh take them to Ww1. If anyone can translate this I'd be very interested in knowing exactly what it means. All items sold as is. Item is old and has normal wear and tear with age. Considered highly collectible
