Description: Rare full set of Alcohol Tavern plates made for Royal Sphinx Holland by Boch Belgium. These plates could serve as coasters or side plates. Rum (La Rhum) The Boch manufacture was established in Belgian La Louvière by Jean-François Boch, one of main owners of another known company, Villeroy & Boch. Victor Boch assumed direction of Boch Freres SNC in 1844. Production could be started immediately thanks to other Boch family ceramic businesses that sold Victor ready-to-use copperplates. Hallmarks: printed on back of each "Made for Royal Sphinx Holland by Boch Belgium ~ Delft". Approximate age: Late 1800's. Dimensions: 4.5" diameter x 0.5” profile depth Condition: Excellent giftable condition. Only mentionable issue: two rough spots on plate #1 in one o'clock position (see last photo). No visible crazing or discoloration. Paint and glaze intact with good color and without scratches or erosion. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges (except on plate #1 as previously mentioned). No signs of previous repair or restoration. Combined unpacked weight: 1 lb. 3.3 oz.
