Description: Official Handbook of the Lone Scouts of America Chicago: Lone Scouts of America; no date (but between 1921 and 1924) Lone Scouts of America was a scouting organization for American boys that operated from 1915 until it merged with the Boy Scouts of America in 1924. It was founded by W. D. Boyce, publisher of the Chicago Ledger and the Saturday Blade and one of the founders of the BSA. In 1922 the Lone Scouts announced they would no longer accept applications "from members of the negro race" and the mast head of The Lone Scout changed from "A Real Boys Magazine" to "The White Boys' Magazine."
