Description: This is a rather surprising find. A victorian mourning dress I'm still going through a trunk of old dresses (discovered in our victorian Manor House when we 'insulated' the loft) which seem to range from Victorian to 1930's. Although this dress shows some wear, like the others for an antique dress it is in good condition but shows some tears and bead losses. This dress has morphed into something unbelievable (to us at least!) when I dressed her on our modern UK 12 Mannequin. We can now see a train, 'mutton sleeves and very beautiful bead/sequin work. It is in two parts, skirt and bodice. The bodice is boned and is exquisitely detailed with embroidery and sequins adorning the lace. There are many hook and eye fastenings which take time to work out but do connect. The dress does require some repairs but is a stunning example and well worth the effort if you have skills. There is some staining to the internal Bodice. Appears to be handmade. So, so beautiful. I can find nothing like it. I am listing a Victorian Cape/shawl is another listing from the same trunk. Please do ask any questions. I'm very happy to send further pics.
