Description: "Psychedelic No. 9" puzzle game from 1969 Only Released For 1 Year before it was canceled and pulled from the shelfs. Very Rare and HARD TO FIND!Vintage Cadaco “Psychedelic No. 9”Created by: Joesph Weisbeckera 2-Player Puzzle Game from the late 1960`s (1968-1969)Due to extremely limited sales and very limited production, this game became very difficult to find. It’s excellent for a collector.In 1969 this small puzzle game was a available to purchase for only $1 dollar. CONDITION: THE CONDITION OF CASE IS GOOD. THE GAME PIECES (9), PLAYER CARDS (2) AND INSTRUCTIONS (1) ARE ALL IN EXCELLENT WONDERFUL CONDITION. The game is approximately 55 years old and does NOT show or have any signs of aging. It maybe possible that this game has never been used or it was well taken care of and only lightly played. It remains to be in excellent condition. The instructions are crisp and don't look that bad for being over 55 years old. That's pretty old. The graphics and colors are still very vivid and psychedelic. There is NO discoloration from age which is wonderful for the next lucky owner of this VERY RARE AND HARD TO FIND puzzle game. There is absolutely zero general wear on all 9 puzzle pieces which are only made out of simple printed and coated cardboard. This originally belonged to my uncle who passed on. It was found in the attic. There is no aging visible, no sun damage or weather damage, there is no water damage or faded colors, there are no rounded or worn edges and the 9 puzzle pieces and 2 player’s cards are all in incredible shape for their age . The red and clear plastic case slightly show very light signs of storage wear. TRUE STORY: In 1969, a new game appeared on the shelves of stores all over the country— Psychedelic no. 9. It was a puzzle game, with the modest price tag of just a dollar, and an addition to the manufacturer Cadaco’s already large line of dollar puzzles. The game’s developer was Joseph Weisbecker, a computer engineer at RCA Laboratories who also dabbled in puzzles and board games in his spare time. This wasn’t Weisbecker’s first mass-produced game, and neither was it his first game for Cadaco. That slot went to Decisions! Decisions!, a game profiled in Sid Sackson’s second edition of Gamut of Games, a book that showcased what he considered to be the most unique games on the market. Decisions! Decisions! was a good seller for Cadaco, but unfortunately, Psychedelic no. 9 was not. After a year of lackluster sales, Cadaco informed Weisbecker that not only were they pulling the game from the market, but that they also still had several thousand unsold units in their warehouse. Also, while Cadaco had been considering licensing another of Weisbecker’s games in April 1969, after it became apparent that there was no market for his brand of puzzles, he was unable to convince the company to give any other of his games a shot. In the end, Weisbecker purchased six dozen of his own games, and although he did try to interest other licensees to produce them, unfortunately, Psychedelic no. 9 did not get a second shot at the mass market, and four dozen of the six dozen remained in Weisbecker’s garage until they were donated to the David Sarnoff Library, from which the Sarnoff Collection acquired them in 2012. (THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT SO RARE) It on her game board. The first player to get three puzzle pieces to completely cover her board with only three puzzle pieces wins the game. If a player has three pieces on her board already, but has not covered it completely, she must return it to the pile before taking another piece. This is a rare vintage puzzle game that was only released for one year between 1969 and 1970. The game was designed by Joseph Weisbecker and sold to Cadaco. The game sold poorly and it was pulled within a year. Joseph was an engineer and created unique puzzle games, but he was unable to get more of his unique games sold.
