Description: This is a heavy piece of glass art measuring around 4.5 inches in diameter and weighing approx 2 lbs. It is about 2 in tall. It contains 4 tiny holes on the top side which may or may not have a function (you decide -see photo). The outer glass is smooth and perfect throughout, though the interior glass appears to have an intrinsic flaw in the way of tiny splintering that may have been inherent in the process of making this piece. That notwithstanding, this is a gorgeous hunk of glass that has incredible eye appeal. Richard L. Stauffer was born in New Cambria on April 1, 1932 and died in 2005. He was a graduate of Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia and the Univ. of Kansas, Lawrence. He served in the U.S. Army before teaching within the Emporia public school system. He eventually joined the Emporia State University faculty. Stauffer mentored Rollin Karg and many other contemporary studio artists at Emporia State University in Kansas. Stauffer's work is represented at the Corning Museum of Glass in addition to several other museum collections. Rollin Karg is an acclaimed glass artist who is renowned for his singularly unique art glass creations. He is especially well known for his creative use of dichroic colors – colors which convey one color while reflecting another – in his glass art.
