The dress has other intricate design features including a pleated bib that closes with brass hooks (in addition to a side zipper), very full bishop's sleeves, more pleats below the raised waistband that open into a full skirt, and horizontal pleats all around the hemline. The fabric is 51% silk and 49% polyester, much of which is probably allocated to the gold fibers. The black lining is 100% silk. The dress is labeled Italian size 40, which in modern clothing is considered equivalent to a size 4. However, the measurements indicate that this dress would fit Medium sizes 6-8, even perhaps a size 10.
