Robinia Pseudoacacia Tree 300 Seeds Fragrant Cold Hardy Black Locust

Description: Robinia Pseudoacacia Also known as: Black Locust, False Acacia, Pea Flower Locust, White Locust This here is a nitrogen fixing, deciduous showy tree that typically grows to 30-50’ (less frequently to 80’) tall. Although originally native to the Allegheny Mountains, it has naturalized over time to cover much of the United States and southern Canada plus parts of Europe, Asia and South America. At its best, it will grow as a broadly columnar single trunk tree with a narrow oblong crown. It is noted for its attractive compound leaves and pendant racemes of pea-like flowers. Branches are usually armed with short paired spines, which often go away as the tree matures. Pinnate dark blue-green leaves, with each leaf having up to 23 lance-shaped to ovate leaflets. Leaves turn uneventful yellow in fall. Intensely fragrant wisteria-like white flowers in pendant racemes (to 8” long) bloom in late spring. Bees are attracted to the flowers. Flowers are followed by smooth, flat, purple-brown seed pods. The wood is extremely hard, being one of the hardest woods in Northern America. It is very resistant to rot, and durable, making it prized for furniture, flooring, paneling, fence posts, and small watercraft. Highly valued as firewood for wood-burning stoves; it burns slowly, with little visible flame or smoke, and has a higher heat content than any other species that grows widely in the Eastern United States. Generally considered to be a very easy-to-grow tree. It thrives in many difficult growing conditions and is a good selection for difficult areas where other trees will not grow well. Grow in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates some light shade, but avoid shady locations. Good drought tolerance. Spreads by self-seeding and root suckers. Avoid pruning in the spring. Hardy in USDA zones 3-8 This offer is for 300 seeds! We also offer this species in packs of 50, 150 and 1000 seeds in our store! For complete transparency we include payment processing & Ebay fees in our shipping/handling cost. *DISCLAIMER*NO RETURNS/REFUNDS/REPLACEMENTS ON SEEDSMost specialty seeds we offer are NOT fast to germinate. Many take several weeks, months, and some even up towards a year depending on dormancy, region, season etc. It is important that the buyer understands that seeds are perishable products and seed germination can be adversely affected by such factors as mold/fungus, bugs, temperature, moisture content, light intensity, dormancy, care, contamination of planting media among many other reasons. These factors are totally out of The Plant Attraction's control and are the buyer's responsibility and risk. Germination recommendations are sent with each order and the buyer is free to research and use their own methods. Floating seeds do not always indicate that the seed is not viable. Many times it is a misconception because the seed does not have the density to sink in water. Accordingly, The Plant Attraction does not guarantee seeds to perform properly regardless of conditions or buyer's methods or mistakes. Since 2006 we have been doing our best to hand sort and provide the freshest, cleanest harvest that is free of defects and bugs.
