Description: Rocky Point Park Shore Dinner Hall Warwick, Rhode Island 1847 -1995 A trip down memory lane art print of yummy food at Rocky Point’s Shore Dinner Hall from an original watercolor painting by the Artist, William B. MacGregor Jr, who is known in the New England area as the Junkyard and Nostalgia Artist. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Rocky Point Park was an amusement park on the Narragansett Bay side of Warwick, Rhode Island. In the 1840s Rocky Point was founded by Captain William Winslow and by 1847 began to offer amusements and serve dinner. Rock Point became more popular with the coming of the train full of guests from Providence. Rides were added thru the years such as the Wildcat Roller Coaster, the flying turns, salt water pool and a miniature railroad. The hurricane of 1938 caused extensive damage and the park did not reopen till 1948. This began the golden years and many new attractions were added such as the Skyliner, Tilt-a-Whirl, Roto Jets, Apollo 11, the Scrambler, Bumper cars, House of Horror, the Tempest, the Yo-Yo, Log Flume and the Spider. Rocky Point purchased the Cyclone Roller Coaster from Riverside Park (6-flags) in 1983 and in 1984 added the Corkscrew Loop Roller Coaster. Then in 1988 added its greatest thrill ride The Free Fall. The Shore Dinner Hall was famous for clam cakes, steamers, lobsters and clam chowder and seated over 4000 people. Rocky Point was the second oldest operating amusement park in the U.S. until it closed in 1995. The rides and Shore Dinner hall are gone but the land was preserved and on October 25, 2014 it reopened as Rocky Point State Park. Art Print of the shore dinner hall at Rock Point Park.
