Description: Roger Craig had a Big League career that spanned five decades. As a player he was part of three World Series Champion teams; winning with both the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers (1955 & 1959), and the St. Louis Cardinals (1964). As a pitching coach he helped mold the Detroit Tigers rotation of 1984 into World Series winners. Craig was also a member of the inaugural New York Mets team of 1962, where he became the expansion team’s workhorse (actually being tagged with the team’s first official loss). But Roger Craig will best be remembered as the manager that turned the San Francisco Giants into winners. After inheriting a team that lost 100 games in 1985, Craig’s 1989 team won San Francisco’s first NL Pennant since 1962 (losing the Series to the Oakland A’s). Craig continued to manage the Giants until 1992. This card was released as an autographed insert created for inclusion in Upper Deck’s 2004 Sweet Spot Classic product. Craig has added a beautiful, smudge free, black ink autograph, signed directly on a piece of white baseball leather with red stitches. This version of Craig’s card was limited to only 175 copies made, with this being serial numbered on front 067/175. Craig has included the notation “1955 Dodgers” to his signature.
