Description: Roger Tory Peterson Georgia Ornithological Society Oriole Signed Print. Roger Tory Peterson was one of the founders of the Georgia Ornithological Society (GOS) and provided the first image used on the society’s publication. He was never satisfied with that original drawing. Therefore, in 1987 he donated his color painting of an oriole to GOS and requested that the image replace his original black and white image. He approved the production of 280 images to be used as incentives for donations for the Society. This auction item is #71 of 280 of those prints and is signed by Peterson. It is from the estate of Bill P Lovejoy, former professor of Biology at Georgia Southern University and lifelong member of GOS. Condition is excellent. Professionally framed. Text documenting the history of this print is on the back of the framed artwork. At the request of Dr. Lovejoy, all proceeds from estate items sold will be donated to a Biology scholarship he and his wife had established.
