Camera-ready cover art for the Atheneum paperbound edition of Perry Miller's Roger Williams: His Contribution to the American Tradition: pen and ink and type on card, marginal pencil annotations, with color swatches for the two-color design, acetate overlay for each color's plate, fold-over cover sheet with project title and the designers' Bayport, Long Island address label, the package 12 7/8" x 15". With, typewritten cover copy, ff.(2), containing detailed layout instructions to the compositor (fonts, point sizes, leading, spacing), on the designers' letterhead, each sheet 11" x 8 1/2" and dated May 1, 1962. And, a rough proof of the cover copy (front, back) bearing numerous red ink corrections and changes, and a corrected proof of the same, each 14" x 11". As well, a paste-up of the front cover and spine, and a proof of the finished cover design, each 7 1/4" x 9 1/4". Undated; the Atheneum paperbound edition was published circa 1962. 2. Camera-ready cover art for the Crowell publication of Clyde Robert Bulla's Stories of Gilbert and Sullivan Operas: pen and ink and type on card, marginal pencil annotations, with color swatches for the two-color design, acetate overlay for each color's plate, the package 15" x 20". "Illustrated by James & Ruth McCrea." Undated; the book was published in 1968. 3. Four part-divisions for an unnamed publication: "Earth," "Space," "Mars," "Phobos" (respectively, "Part One," "Part Two," etc.), pencil on tissue (vellum) paper, 2 1/2" - 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" - 4", each within a 8 1/4" x 5 1/2" ruled border, each 12" x 8 5/8" sheet stapled at its upper edge to a paper backing sheet. Undated. 4. Three illustrations by Ruth McCrea, pen and ink and watercolor (2), and pen and ink, 5 3/4" - 9 1/4" x 2 1/4" - 6 1/4", on 14" x 11" sheets, two signed, the three apparently for the same unidentified publication; one sheet slightly foxed. Undated. 5. Watercolor by Ruth McCrea, 9 1/4" x 6" (image), 13 3/8" x 9 7/8" (sheet), on Bainbridge Board, signed, the artist's name and Brooklyn address on the reverse; the overlaid plastic cover sheet is adhered to the design, in places. Undated. 6. Watercolor on artist's paper, 20" x 14" (image and sheet), unsigned, for an unidentified project. An old house, looking abandoned, in a deserted landscape. Undated. 7. Camera-ready dust jacket design, oil on card, 14 1/4" x 8 3/4" (image), 20" x 14" (sheet), marginal annotations indicating finished size (5 5/8" wide), location ("Back of jacket"), and what is presumably the book's title ("The Luck of Brin's Five"), the paper overlay with attached note, "Color key, no proofs," the designers' Bayport, Long Island address label on the card back.
