Vintage black frame, measures 14 3/4" x 17 1/2", has two small chips along bottom inside edge. Samuel Margolies was born in Brooklyn, March 10, 1897. He studied at the Cooper Union Art School, the National Academy of Design, and The Beaux-Arts Institute. He gained a reputation in the 1930’s as a printmaker notably working in intaglio, especially aquatint. His view of New York City can bring many thousands and his Connecticut and New Jersey winter scenes have been highly collected through the years.
