Devoted to the "gai" lifestyle, "la vie en rose", prostitutes and the men who pursue them, contemporary morals and the lack of same, prostitution, Paris nightlife, music-hall dancers, performers, lodge lovers. Illustrations by contemporaries of Toulouse Lautrec and Jules Cheret including: Farlet, Jack Abeilie, Albert Guillaume, P.Norwins, J.Prejelan, Sose, Louis Malteste, J.Wely, Lobel and others. One rusted staple holds it together, second (bottom) staple never stapled. Scans say it best! The French have earned a global reputation for a devotion to publishing including books, periodicals and newspapers. Within the scope of the diversity of the French printed word also came French illustrated "serial" publications. Focused on societal, religious and political norms,they took the form of satyrical and humorous newspapers and periodicals in circa 1850s. It was not long after the birth of these publications that "special issues" were spun off leading eventually to a host a stand alone titles. By the-turn-of-the 20th century the Parisian kiosk were getting crowded with many new titles, many focus on "la vie en rose", Parisian nightlife and prostitutions.
