Description: Savinelli Punto Oro 606 KS Bent Apple with Gold Ring Accent and 6mm Clear Amber Acrylic Stem. Italy (I previously made a mistake & stated that it was 9mm, sorry for the confusion) *Punto Oro translates to "Golden Dot" When I first received this pipe, it was obvious that it was neglected and not maintained if ever cleaned at all. I had to do an aggressive retort on the stem in order to have it look acceptable. It isn't perfect, but it's damn close. Clear stems are always a challenge when major tar has built up in the airway. I also removed the minor tooth chatter from the button. The stummel was cleaned and sanitized inside and out. The bowl reamed and food grade bowl coating applied. Blackened rim restored to its natural state. It has not been restained. I kept the original look and just buffed it with white diamond and carnuba wax. It is a beautiful pipe with amazing grain and a rare example of the Punto Oro line of pipes. I try my best to take good pictures from many angles. But, since I am not a professional photographer, the pipes always look better in person. If you require more pictures on a pipe you're interested in, just ask. I try very hard to get the "ghosts" out of every pipe. This is usually possible, but occasionally, no matter how hard I try, and with every method exhausted (salt & alcohol, Everclear & cotton balls, retort with Everclear, ozone treatment), it just isn't possible. It's the nature of the beast, I suppose. God knows what some people smoked and how much of it. I hand sand and polish all my pipe stems rather than on the buffing wheel. It's just my preference. I also always ream the bowls down to briar. I do not leave any cake. I follow it up with an organic food grade bowl coating. If bowl coatings aren't your thing, then it's easily removed with a damp paper towel. I very rarely use tenon expanders on loose stems. Most of the time, bees wax does the trick just fine. I prepare all my pipes to my preferences. If any significant repairs were done, then it will definitely be stated in detail. All pipes that I sell as refurbished, refreshed, repaired, restored, etc. will be in ready to smoke condition. Just add your tobacco of choice, and you're ready to go. The prices I ask for my pipes are a reflection of the work that went into them and the materials/supplies used. This is not a cheap process and can be very time-consuming.
