Description: Russian LACQUER BOX The scene is from the tale of "Snegurochka" (The Snow Maiden).The artist's signature is in Cyrillic - the artist's name is "Pavlov". gorgeous outdoor Scene of a Snowy Village with the people who have joined together Hand Painted golds coppers mother of pearls--The beautiful lacquer box is hand painted & created by a master Russian artist from the village of Fedoskino - signed by Nabio B-- 1998 -- I had the privilege to visit this village when we lived there in 1998 -- the Scene on the Lacquer box is vibrant & just amazing a 3D beautiful dimensional scene. There is the color of gold & a vibrant cache of colors which the coloring in this box is gold & some copper, lot of mother of pearl. the gold is applied with wolf tooth.The faces of the people in the scene have so much feeling to them. This box is gold gilt edged design with a beautiful curled feather design. The box measures side to side 7 1/8" side to side x 5.25" back to front x 2 1/8" tall. open it up & it reveals a red lacquer interior. The hinge works nicely. This is a lovely box & the Scene is so exquisite. it has been one of my favorite boxes, but we are now downsizing. pictures below
