Kits can fix a variety of issues to include but not limited to: No power Lagging audio Lagging video Disc reading issues Controllers not connecting Setting time/date at each power up Getting to know your system: It's very important that you know which model you're interested in recapping otherwise you won't receive the correct number or rated capacitors for your repair. More importantly you'll need to know which motherboard reversion you need to recap. More on this in a moment. Flip your console upside down so the bottom sticker is facing you. Bottom right corner of the sticker, to the left of NTSC|U (PAL|U), you'll find a small circle with a 0, 1 or 2 within it. Whatever number is in the circle is your system version. There are 3 variants of the Sega Dreamcast and they are as follows: v0 aka Circle 0 v1 aka Circle 1 v2 aka Circle 2 Currently, I have not worked on every hardware revision and do not carry kits for all motherboard variants. You'll need to verify your motherboard revision as well to ensure you order the correct kit. Model board numbers can be found vertically on the left hand side of the motherboard and your motherboard reversion number will typically be on the bottom. Note regarding clock batteries: There were 3 official brand batteries used to save the time/date settings on the Sega Dreamcast and they are as follows: Maxell (Hitachi) ML2032 3v Panasonic ML2020 3v Sanyo ML2430 3v Be cautious of other sellers listings Several are selling unbranded LIR 3.6v batteries in their kits. Not only are they the incorrect voltage, they are also made from different materials which could lead to leakage or possible bursting. Even if you don't buy from me atleast put the right battery in your system!
