Description: Vintage Welden Pottery Mottoware Baking Dishes Pennsylvania Dutch Red Ware. Set of two oval Double Handled Au gratin Baking Dishes. Each has a flower design in the center and the motto around the inside of the dish. Signed on bottom. 7 in x 5 in x 1.5 in deep. Mottos: "Wisdom is a good purchase tho we pay dear for it" "Long may your chimney smoke" Welden produced pottery in the 60's and 70"s in the Dutch Folk Art style. The sayings and floral decoration are scored through the glaze to reveal the red clay underneath after it was painted. These dishes are gently used. No chips or cracks.
