Description: A special autographed edition of the young adult classic by Dhan Gopal Mukerji, who became the first person of color to receive the Newbery Medal (and one of the first popular Indian authors in English). A charming, lyrical story about a young boy and his pet pigeon set during the backdrop of World War One. Signed by both Mukerji and Ukranian born illustrator Boris Artzybasheff (one of his early works, later known for "Seven Simeons" and Raymond Chandler dust jacket designs). A lovely copy bound in a vellum spine, with some light fading to the purple boards from age. A couple pages uncut at the bottom (can easily be "opened" with a bookmark). See pictures for a closer look!
