Description: Wake Robin by John Burroughs. Hougton Mifflin, 1899. Hardcover without jacket. Signed by Burroughs on the first free page and dated March 1st, 1904. Bonus item #1: A page from Dr. Woodcock's medical practice, a prescription note, blank and laid in as found. Bonus item #2: A letter from John Burroughs to Dr. A.J. Woodcock and postmarked Feb 18th, 1904 in which author Burroughs agrees to sign this book and send it back as requested by Woodcock. (He also signed a copy of Whitman's Complete Prose) which was listed separately. A note on the marginalia. Apparently Dr. Woodcock was known for his marginal notes. A brief online search revealed a similar book owned by Woodcock and a story of him sending Teddy Roosevelt a roman coin and asking for a signature in return. This lot contains a signed Burroughs book and a signed Burroughs letter. A real unique pairing providing provenance in the process.
