Skippy, a comic strip written and drawn by author, illustrator, and cartoonist Percy Lee Crosby (1891-1964), was published from 1923 to 1945. A highly popular, acclaimed and influential feature about rambunctious fifth-grader Skippy Skinner, his friends and his enemies, it was adapted into movies, a novel and a radio show. An early influence on cartoonist Charles Schulz and an inspiration for his Peanuts, Skippy is considered one of the classics of the form. Skippy was also the source for the name for Skippy peanut butter, although that appropriation was made without permission. In this volume, Crosby adapted Skippy's adventures into novel form. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our father was a bibliophile who collected rare books, letters, and ephemera for more than 60 years.
