Description: Southern Pacific (SP) Stairway to the Stars Dome Lounge car No. 3605 on Train 98, the Coast Daylight as it pulls by the old 4th Street Tower, San Francisco, CA on August 25, 1967. No. 3605 was rebuilt from tavern car No. 10312, built by Pullman-Standard in 1937. The upper-dome lounge could seat 48. It began service on the Shasta Daylight in May of 1955. The car was given smooth sides in 1969 and sold to Amtrak (9374) in 1972. Purchased by the Royal Gorge Railway, who planned restoration, it has now been acquired by the Canadian Pacific Railway and renovated as an executive car; it carries the number CP 3605 and is named "Selkirk." This 4 x 6 color photo is a brand-new and printed on glossy photo paper, and sent from a smoke-free environment. Be sure to see my other listings as many railroad photos are available. Thank you!
