CALIFORNIA (II) - (1907 - 8,662 tons) was one of four Anchor Line ships built for the European migrant trade to the United States between 1902 and 1911. CONDITION: some toning on ship/Oban post card; menu card is very fine and has no blemishes; full and even perforations on both cards; very scarce "Programme of Music" on reverse of Menu card was printed upside down on board ship. The view of Oban, a resort town in Argyllshire on the west coast, is one of 24 different views of Scottish places of interest that Anchor Line had printed on postcards for their ships on the Glasgow-Londonderry- New York route. This was to entice passengers from America to travel on their ships to visit Ireland, Scotland, The British Isles, and the Continent.
