A young Franciscan religious made it a custom to bring a crown of roses to the statue of Our Lady. When he could no longer continue with the devotion the Immaculate Virgin Mary appeared to him and gave him another means to offer her a crown. This new garden was to pray seven decade Rosary while meditation on the Seven Joys of Mary according to Holy Scripture and Tradition. The Seven Joys of Mary Immaculate are: 1) Annunciation, 2) The Visitation, 3) The Nativity of Jesus, 4) Adoration of the Magi, 5) The Finding of the Child Jesus, 6) Resurrection of Jesus, 7) The Assumption & Coronation of Mary. The cross is the famous San Damiano Cross that is know in the life of St. Francis. It is said that our Lord spoke to Francis from this Holy Cross that hung in the small church of San Damiano, telling Francis to "GO REBUILD THE CHURCH!" The cross is wood w/ medal image.
