Description: Antique Quadrupeds Mastiff 6.5" Plate Quadrupeds" by John Hall is a huge dinner service with a different animal in the center of each size and shape. The large border medallions or cartouches frame more animal patterns. Hall copied the vast majority of prints from "A Cabinet of Quadrupeds" (1805) by John Church, although some of the prints are from "The General History of Quadrupeds" (1790) by Thomas Bewick and drawings for Aesop's Fables by Samuel Howitt. The 6.5 inch plate features a mastiff standing in front of a mansion in the center with horses, sheep, a water vole (looks like a beaver) and a squirrel in the border medallions. Early 19th Century. c. 1814-32 Approx. 6.5"W. Provenance: Prominent Private Collection Documentation: TCC #3091 Condition: Nice condition, minor imperfections to be expected.
