Description: Up for sale is my vintage Stanton 500 cartridge. This has an original Stanton stylus, not aftermarket. In the golden age of vinyl, the Stanton 500 was one of the goto entry level audiophiles cartridges. On par with the Shure M91 it would compete in the same class as an Ortofon 2M Red, Grado Black, or an Audio Technica AT95 today. How does it compare ? To me the Stanton 500 is smoother and more laid back than the 2M Red or the AT95 but packs more punch than a Grado Black. This is one of the iconic cartridges of the Golden Age of vinyl. I've seen these come off of Technics SL1200's and Sony PS-X50's which are not shabby turntables at all. This particular Stanton is in good working order with balanced stereo from both channels. Get it today ! more laid back than both. It has more punch than a Grado Black but not as fatiguing as the 2M Red or the AT95.
