Description: GRAFTON, SUE, MARTIN ROTH. Strictly Murder! A Writer’s Guide to Criminal Homicide by Martin Roth. Los Angeles: Siles Press, 1998. First Edition. Paperbound. From mystery author Sue Grafton’s private research library on crime that she used as she wrote her novels. With the Sue Grafton estate bookplate on interior of the front cover, and with a letter of authentication from Grafton's husband. 208 pages. Touch of faint foxing, else fine in printed wrappers. Sue Grafton (1940 - 2017) is best known as the author of the ‘alphabet series’ which began with A Is for Alibi (1982) featuring private investigator Kinsey Millhone in the fictional city of Santa Teresa, CA - roughly modeled after Santa Barbara, CA where she made her home. Sadly, she did not live long enough to publish the last letter of the alphabet, with her final work being Y Is for Yesterday (2017). The daughter of detective novelist C.W. Grafton, she said the strongest influence on her crime novels was Ross Macdonald. Before her success with this series, she wrote screenplays for television movies.
