Description: SUNNY RAYS FOR CHILDHOOD DAYSIllustrated_________________ Pictorial hardcover no dust jacket; 60 pages; Size Approx. 8 1/4 X 10 1/4.Published by McLaughlin Bros.; undated, circa 1895.Details: This is an old children's book with a lovely pictorial cover front and back, and wonderful black & white vintage illustrations within. There are poems and short stories that go with the pictures. No doubt a much loved book by the children in its day!I think this book was likely an abbreviated version of a larger book because the pagination runs through page 19, then jumps to 80, but the thickness of the binding and the fact that the page sections are sewn together rules out the fact that the intervening pages have fallen out and are missing. Also the picture on page 19 is related to the story on page 18, but page 80 is the reverse side of page 19. Probably the same plates were used to print an abbreviated edition of some larger book.Please see the pictures.A fine addition for your bookshelf!Condition: Considerable edge wear, corners worn through, some damage to the cloth along the lower front edge of the spine, some soiling, a few edge tears, pages are tanned with age and while they remain fairly supple I feel the edges might chip or tear easily, otherwise in good condition with a solid binding and acceptably clean pages. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.Delivery: We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system.
