Description: For sale as pictured: a cast brass statue of Lord Ganesha or Ganesh or Ganapati or Vinayaka, the four-armed, elephant-headed deity revered by practitioners of the Hindu religion as well as several other religious groups, including Buddhists. This is the traditional depiction of Taj Ganesha on his star-shaped throne, crowned and with a halo. The figure appears to be cast in brass from a finely hand-carved original. It is 2.5 inches in height and weighs 7.7 ounces. THis is a really beautiful vintage piece. Note: I state that it appears to be brass; this is based on lay observation, not any metalurgical knowledge or testing. It could be an alloy or some other metal, but based on color and weight, brass is my best guess.
