This is a great companion book to R. Glenn’s THE GRIEFCASE, and one published for business leadership, GRIEF IN THE WORKPLACE. Reviews Jamie Bee 5.0 out of 5 stars The Grieving Worker Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2021 We rarely discuss grief and mourning either at a personal or societal level. Yet, if you put much time here on planet Earth, you have undoubtedly lost someone close to you. This book looks at grief and mourning as it pertains to the workplace. How are you changed not only as a human being but as a worker after you've survived grievous loss? This book is a nonfiction type I absolutely adore, one born of the author’s personal experience that shares not only his or her personal story but lessons learned that can help you through your own similar process. The author has suffered the heartbreaking loss of his only child because of a rare medical condition. The author was a mid-level manager, with other managers reporting to him, before his son died. He thought he would be returning to a similar situation when he went back to work, but like the rest of his life, his work life changed as well. The author breaks grief and the workplace into multiple chapters on very specific topics that not only have to do with the griever’s personal landscape but how co-workers and company respond to it. The book ends up being a thorough look at grief and its impacts on the griever, the people around him or her, and the company. If you have suffered such a loss and are grappling with the changes it has wrought in your life, including work, I suggest you read this book for some helpful ideas. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review. Mariquita Solis5.0 out of 5 stars You are not alone. Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021 This book came at the perfect time. I recently lost my best friend and I was in the caught in the regret loop. It really helped me to hear Mr. Kelly's struggles with the loss of his own beloved son and how he was able to overcome them. After reading the book, I was able to shift to a different mindset of non-judgment and self-care. I would recommend this book to everyone. Death is part of life and this wonderful book is a healing step of preparation. About the Author R. Glenn Kelly, or Ron to his family and friends, is a bereaved father and author of both non-fiction and fiction books that deal with moving forward after loss or other tragic events in life. After losing his sixteen-year-old son and only child, Jonathan, to a rare congenital heart defect, Ron struggled with grief and his own identity. As he found healthful ways to move forward, he would publish his first book, Sometimes I Cry in the Shower, and become a highly sought-after Keynote Speaker and Workshop Presenter for several national bereavement support organizations, churches, universities, Fortune 50 companies, and more. Speaking on the topic of grief healing, Ron has appeared as a guest on numerous television talk shows, radio programs, podcasts, and in newsprint articles. He has served as a National Board of Directors member for multiple national bereavement support organizations and a Board of Advisors member at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, where his son passed away. Considered a Subject Matter Expert on the diversities between male and female grief, he enjoys conducting couples’ workshops for parents who have experienced child loss. When not involved in his favorite pastime of writing, Ron speaks at local civic organizations, churches, and businesses to bring greater attention to the impacts of grief in the workplace, both to the bereft and to their employer. His books can be found in print, ebook and audiobook at most online retailers, as well as bookstores everywhere.
