When recording with 2 tracks on a tape that has been recorded with 4 tracks, or when recording with 4 tracks on a tape that has been recorded with 2 tracks, some of the previous recording may remain on the tape. Especially when playing back at high speed, this part may be heard as noise when there is no signal. With this in mind, if you want to re-record, erase it with a tape eraser or something before recording.
